Putting our faith into action in Weymouth and throughout Digby County.
At Southville Church of Christ, we believe that faith without works is dead. Our commitment to Christ compels us to look beyond the walls of our historic building and engage actively with the community around us. Through various outreach programs, volunteer efforts, and a dedication to preserving local heritage, we strive to be a positive, supporting presence in Digby County.
We are dedicated to answering the biblical call to care for those in need within our community. Our outreach initiatives include providing essential items and support during challenging times, visiting the sick and elderly, and organizing seasonal gift-giving drives.
These efforts are driven by the compassion of our congregation members who volunteer their time and resources to ensure that our neighbors in the Weymouth area feel supported, seen, and loved.
Investing in the next generation is a vital part of our mission. Our youth programs are designed to provide young people with a safe, encouraging environment where they can grow in faith, develop leadership skills, and build lasting friendships.
Through dedicated Bible study classes, youth-led activities, and participation in worship services, we aim to equip our young members with a strong spiritual foundation that will guide them throughout their lives.
Throughout the year, we host special events that bring the community together in celebration and reflection. One of our most cherished traditions is our annual live nativity scene, a beautiful reenactment of the Christmas story that draws visitors from across the county.
These seasonal gatherings offer an opportunity for joyful fellowship and serve as a reminder of the foundational events of the Christian faith, open to everyone in the community.
Our role in the community extends beyond spiritual leadership; we are also custodians of local history. The 1889 church building functions not only as a place of worship but as a community heritage museum.
By maintaining this municipally registered heritage property, we help preserve the cultural and architectural history of Digby County. We welcome visitors, historians, and school groups to learn about the early days of the Southville area and the legacy of the Restoration Movement in Nova Scotia.
